Congratulations are in order for Homeschool Boy Scout Troop 412 based in Hernando. This troop was started 2 years ago to meet a need for scouting in homeschooling families of Desoto and Tate counties. The scouts went to camp July 6-12. For the second year in a row they brought home the Thunderbird award, which means they earned the distinction as the best troop in camp out of 15 troops. | John Ackerman participated in the CBU high school engineering competition. He created a balsa wood crate that withstood 479 lbs. of pressure. He placed third and got a $50 cash prize. |
